My mom went down the list of girls so I had 3 names: Donna Eileen Amy. She never (and I do mean to use that ‘absolute’) remembered our birthdays. She had five of us on the 11th or the 13th so she thought she was doing well to remember the month.
Her brother, Uncle Tom, helped create Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. When he died, my brother and I were invited to the Memorial at the University. I nearly fell off my chair to learn Uncle Tom had the same mental block re birthdays. Guess who has it today…terribly embarrassing.

At least you can blame it on genetics!

Funny! My mom called me by her sister’s name. I call my grandkids by my children’s names! I once introduced my husband (then boyfriend) as a former boyfriend…. awkward moment! Thanks for sharing.

My mother still calls me K-Heidi (because my sister’s name starts with a K), though I’ve also been called by my father and brother’s names as well as the cat and dog’s. I got smart long ago and just point at my kids and yell, hey you!
