Here are my thoughts, rather shallow this week….
How do you write: computer, longhand or other? I used to LOVE to write longhand… I was into calligraphy for a while and addressed all my daughter’s wedding invitations rather elegantly. But arthritis has made writing by hand rather painful and even worse… embarrassingly illegible! So I type. I have to type my blog. My ideas come too fast for a pen or pencil. . .
Regardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could play any sport professionally what would it be? Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport? I really enjoyed volleyball when I was a teenager. But none of that beach stuff for me.. I was never bikini material… NEVER! I think the winner would be swimming, though. Water is so soothing and it’s great exercise. And you get can do it when you get old!
If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich? It would have to be something with music. Maybe not performing; I often thought how much fun it would be to choose the music for movies or TV…. that would be very enjoyable and too much fun to be a job!
What subject was your favorite in all of your schooling? Why?
My favorite subject in school was English and Literature, hands down. I loved to read and write and follow the rules of grammar. Sounds boring to some? I just liked the order of things like punctuation and sentence structure. I actually enjoyed diagramming sentences! LOL I had several wonderful English teachers in Junior High and High School and a legendary professor of children’s Literature in college. I am sure they played a huge part.
Uh-oh! I loved diagramming, too. Couldn’t wait to teach it to my kid when I homeschooled him. I loved volleyball, too, and I was in a badminton league. 😉

I guess it makes sense that writers and bloggers (same thing?) like to diagram…Badminton….wow… never had much luck with that.

Hear, hear, to all of we bloggers who were English majors! I love longhand, but my writing has disintegrated!!!
I think it’d be fun to be a country western singer…:)

Sorry that arthritis prevents you from writing calligraphy, it is such a beautiful art. Still, I’m happy for you to be able to type.

Is there a support group for people who liked to diagram sentences? It was like a puzzle – I loved it. My granddaughter thinks I’m crazy. 🙂

Haha… instead of a book club or a writing club, we could start a diagramming club! I bet we all have control issues.

Great answers! You’ve reminded me of how much I loved English. I loved diagramming sentences too! And reading books and writing papers on them. And I’m with you on the volleyball – no bikinis for me either.

Oh, it’s nice to meet a fellow lover of ‘English’…
One of my high school English teachers loved enacting Shakespeare. Through this I learned to love the spoken word, and all the nuances it can convey…

You are so lucky. I never “got” Shakespeare until I became an Intervention Teacher and was in the classroom with a colleague English teacher who made it all very clear!

Totally agree with you on the English! Awhile ago I learned more about where to put semi-colons and what to put after a comma. Now I can’t stand it when I accidentally type something wrong, or if I see something wrong!
I also agree with you on the music, I love music (playing and listening)!
Loved your answers!

Our English teachers must have had a way of teaching diagramming that made it fun, because I loved it too and was extremely excited to find that my freshman English professor in college also had us diagramming.
