I’m almost but not quite 40, but I’ve been so close to my parents and their siblings and friends from childhood on that I at times feel I’m from their generation more so than my own in ways. I like the focus of your blog and you have lively, vivid writing. Thank you for the wonderful writing!

  10. Hi! What a lovely blog! My blog is not necessarily about recording my memories of childhood or early adulthood, but a dive in the past seems to be a recurrent theme in most of my posts, via usually a good read. Some books stay with you for years, and it takes a current event to make you think about them again, sometimes for no particular reason!
I will be following you with interest.

I came by to check out you blog and to thank you for the follow. when I was by earlier today I took the liberty if using your link to bloggers4peace.. I am so jazzed about hooking up there. Your stories about your grandma brought back some memories. Growing up I spent all my summers at my grand parents place in Colorado. The contrast was so much different than city life in Phoenix. They lived out in the country a ways. They weren’t what you would call farmers. Grandma kept a good sized garden. I guess back in their day it feed the family most of the time. I spent a lot of my time out helping her tend the garden. She kept a strawberry patch with strawberries as big as crab apples. And sweet. Fruit trees of all kinds surrounded the property. Oh my God I could go on and on. Those where some fun times growing up. But it might be boring to some.

Anyway, I was curious you mentioned Ohio..I know a good amount of the state. I lived in Bryan, Ohio a good part of the 70’s.I traveled all over the state with church groups and such. That all I best say.If I get started no telling. You’ll never shut me up. So, I thank you again for the follow and the trip down memory lane, I will be back around as time permits.

    • You might be surprised how interesting your stories are to others. I never thought anyone would really care about my memories, I was just recording stories for the next generation… but I have made so many friends who enjoy reading about the 50’s and beyond… (mostly old folks like me)
I have a Bryan, Ohio connection….. a college friend (BGSU) who now lives in Pioneer… I believe her hometown was Stryker… but Bryan is right in that area!
      Keep telling your stories!
and welcome to Bloggers 4 Peace!

Pioneer doesn’t sound familiar. but Stryker I know. It’s about 15minutes away from Bryan unless it’s been snowing for days. I haven’t been back in many years I probably wouldn’t recognize the place.Some3 of my fondest memories were in the 50’s and 60’s.

I’m so glad you are writing, Ruth. Retired teachers know too much about writing and are often hesitant or discouraged. I’m so glad you’ve stepped out and are willing to share your life. My mom who majored in English was a great writer, but wouldn’t write a word about her life. Mind you, she lived during a time when it was very difficult to share one’s writings unless a publisher falls into the picture. I don’t think she could bear rejection.
