Weekly Photo Challenge: Everyday Life

One last look

Auction day at the farm where my mother and her siblings grew up.  The farm sold to strangers.  We were taking the last look at the upground cellar where we used to sneak pickles when we were kids.   Bittersweet memories.

Life gives us an abundance of opportunities to learn how to let go. This would be very difficult.

  3. Your post brings up bittersweet memories for me, as well; cleaning out my parent’s home and shed for the new owners. The farm I grew up on belongs to strangers and it makes me sad to see the place anymore. It’s not how I remember it. At least I have pictures and my memories. 🙂

My mom was just telling me about how her grandma used to have a huge crock of pickles on the counter, and the kids would just reach in and help themselves — clean hands, dirty hands, no matter.
